EPIF Appoints Gary Mazzotti as CEO

23. 8. 2021

EP Infrastructure, a.s., (“EPIF” or the “Company”), a leading European energy infrastructure utility focused on gas transmission, gas and power distribution, gas storage and heat generation and distribution, today announces the appointment of Gary Mazzotti to the position of Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.

Mr Mazzotti has served as Vice Chairman of EPIF’s Board of Directors since 2017, holding responsibilities for finance, controlling and investor relations.  He was also actively involved in the Company’s clean energy transformation programme, including the commitment to eliminate the use of coal as a primary energy source by 2030.

As CEO Mr Mazzotti will be responsible for implementing EPIF’s essential twin strategies of ensuring the continued provision of reliable and affordable energy infrastructure services and supplies and thus contributing to the energy security of several European countries, and taking a leading role in the European development of hydrogen energy to assure Europe’s transition to a low carbon future.

Responding to his appointment, Mr Mazzotti said: “I am delighted to be appointed as CEO of EPIF. Over the course of the last four years EPIF has embarked upon a transformational change on its path to becoming a European clean energy leader and as CEO I intend to accelerate this progress. EPIF’s infrastructure will remain critical for the supply of energy to European markets, whether in the form of natural gas today or low-carbon hydrogen in the future. As CEO I will be committed to maintaining EPIF’s track record of high cashflows, while developing new partnerships for the production of green energy.”

Mr Mazzotti succeeds Daniel Křetínský, the founder and chairman of Energetický a Průmyslový Holding, a.s. (EPH), which indirectly owns a 69% stake in EPIF, who will continue to serve as the Chairman of EPIF. “I am delighted that Gary has accepted the position of CEO. Our ambitions in energy transition, specifically in the area of hydrogen, are robust. I am confident in Gary’s ability to meet this challenge and to lead the Company through its next stage of development and growth,” he said.

Jiří Zrůst, Vice Chair of EPIF and Senior Managing Director of Macquarie Asset Management, which leads a group of investors which own a 31% stake in EPIF, said, “We are pleased by Gary’s appointment and believe he is the right person to take EPIF forward as it seeks to become a preeminent clean energy provider and distributor in Europe.”

Gary Mazzotti is a British citizen who has worked in the Czech Republic in finance and operational positions for over 20 years.
